Corporates often get beat in building new ventures for avoidable reasons. Stakeholders, heavy processes and other factors can handicap the effort from day one. While launching innovative products or entering challenging territories is inherently risky, established businesses often take on additional risk at the execution and organizational level.
This is why we don’t do “advice only”. We work alongside you to build product, talk to customers, execute campaigns, or climb under desks to plug stuff in. And through the course of this, we want to be sure that the elephant knows how to dance.
We’re named after a fictional founder.
GS Dun was started by myself, Roger Ahn. I built my career at Betfair, one of Europe’s biggest tech IPOs. Over a decade, I’ve worked in high-growth environments, launching new ventures and startups. I’ve launched and built businesses based on product and geographic expansion. I’ve also worked in large organizations while at places like McKinsey and the UK Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit. In other words, I’ve seen ventures from a variety of angles and my fair share of successes and failures.
Rather than stroke my ego and name the firm after myself, we’re named after a fictional founding father, Mr GS Dun (pictured below). He was kind of a blunt fellow. But this bluntness today is the driving force behind every project we take on. As he said, “There’s a place for analysis, there’s a place for debate. But it ain’t worth sh** until you get sh** done.”
